Product Cinematography in China & Asia
Ryan Potts (Rynos) is a product cinematographer shooting tabletop, tech and lifestyle films in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Hong Kong and across Asia. Based in Guangzhou, he works as Director of Photography on launch films, campaign content and crowdfunding films.
For product video production in China, Ryan can join your director and production team as DP. For briefs that need local production support, he can help assemble the team around the shoot.
Ryan Potts (Rynos) brings 20+ years in the industry and fifteen on the ground in Asia to his product work. The work ranges from tight tabletop pieces for consumer electronics to full lifestyle productions for mobility and wellness brands - always with the same underlying goal: make the object earn its frame.
Technical approach
Product cinematography is a precision discipline. Light placement that flatters a surface finish, motion control or careful handheld technique that reads as intentional, depth of field choices that guide the eye without calling attention to themselves - these details shape how clearly the product reads on screen.
Rynos works across digital capture formats and maintains strong relationships with Guangzhou and Shenzhen rental houses for specialist equipment - motion control, macro lenses, LED volume panels, and more.
Product launch and crowdfunding films
For the Fiido X launch film, Ryan shot as DP across Shenzhen in one overnight schedule, using RGB lighting and shutter treatment to give the e-bike a futuristic look. On Tiiny AI Pocket Lab, he worked as DP and colourist, bringing live action and selected AI-generated shots into one film. The EVVR Smart Plug launch film is another example of his product cinematography.
Location and logistics
Most product work is studio-based, but many of the most effective product films include a lifestyle element shot on location. Guangzhou and Shenzhen both offer excellent studio facilities and a wide range of urban and natural locations within easy reach.
