Colour Grading
Ryan Potts (Rynos) is a cinematographer and colourist based in Guangzhou. He takes on standalone colour grading for commercial, documentary, fashion, and experimental work, including 16mm and early-digital emulation, and collaborates remotely worldwide.
A grade isn't a filter applied at the end of post. It's the final layer of the cinematographic conversation - the point where contrast, saturation, and skin tone are shaped into a unified emotional register. Ryan Potts (Rynos) takes on standalone colour grading work for projects he didn't shoot, bringing the same eye developed across twenty years of cinematography to other people's footage.
The work spans commercial, documentary, fashion, and experimental projects - including material shot on 16mm and early digital formats.
16mm and analog emulation
Whether the source material is actual 16mm film - scanned and brought into a digital pipeline - or digital footage being graded toward an analog aesthetic, the principles are the same: the grade should feel earned, not applied. Rynos has shot on 16mm himself and understands the format's tonal logic from the camera through to the final grade. That firsthand knowledge matters when the goal is emulation that reads as authentic rather than as a preset.
Approach
Every project starts with a conversation about intent - what the footage is trying to feel like, what the reference points are, where the grade should lead the viewer. Deliverables are discussed up front. Remote collaboration works well for grading; most client relationships are conducted via frame.io or equivalent review tools.
